Selling a Ship at a Market High! Euroseas Signs Another New Charter
Nasdaq-listed Greek containership owner Euroseas announced on October 19 that the 2,556 TEU containership “EM CORFU” (built 2001) has signed a charter contract for 12 to 14 months at a daily rate of $62,500, with the charter expected to commence in mid-December 2026.
In addition, Euroseas disclosed that it has agreed to sell the “Evridiki G” (2,556 TEU, built 2001), a sister vessel to the “EM CORFU,” for approximately $26 million, with delivery to the new owner expected after the vessel completes its current charter at the end of October.

Euroseas Chairman and CEO Aristides Pittas said, “I am pleased to announce that the feeder containership ‘EM CORFU’ has secured a new charter for 12-14 months at a daily rate of $62,500. This charter contract is expected to generate approximately $17.8 million in EBITDA and increase the company’s charter coverage for 2026, 2027 and 2028 to approximately 100%, 91% and 49%, respectively.”
He noted, “I am also pleased to announce the sale of the ‘Evridiki G’ for $26 million, a price that Euroseas considers very attractive for an older vessel of this kind. Euroseas expects sale proceeds of approximately $22.5 million, or about $3.19 per share.”
Notably, data show that the previous charter rate for the “EM CORFU” was $28,000 per day, while the new charter rate is as high as $62,500 per day, an increase of 123.2%. This indicates that the containership charter market remains very strong at present.
As of now, Euroseas owns 20 containerships totaling 58,588 TEU. In addition, Euroseas has an orderbook of 12 newbuildings. These include four eco-friendly 4,484 TEU containerships ordered by Euroseas at Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, expected to be delivered between 2027 and May 2028. For these four vessels, Euroseas has already locked in charters of approximately 47-49 months at a daily rate of $35,500. The charterer has the option, before November 17, 2026, to convert the four-year charter into a five-year charter (minimum 59 months, maximum 61 months) at a daily rate of $32,500. Meanwhile, Euroseas ordered four 2,800 TEU high-reefer containerships at Huanghai Shipbuilding, expected to be delivered between Q2 2028 and January 2029. Euroseas placed an order for four 1,800 TEU containerships at CIMC Pacific Offshore & Engineering, scheduled for delivery in June, September and December 2028 and March 2029.
