Swire Shipping has announced that it will fully integrate its specialized project and heavy-lift business subsidiary, Swire Projects, into the Swire Shipping main brand from November this year, while simultaneously increasing investment in the multipurpose vessel fleet that supports this business.

Singapore-based Swire Shipping has reached an agreement to acquire four of the six multipurpose heavy-lift vessels currently operated by Swire Projects under charter agreements from Nordic Project & Finance. The remaining two vessels will be re-chartered for two years to maintain cargo capacity and service continuity while enhancing fleet stability.

The integration will unify Swire's liner, logistics, project cargo, and heavy-lift operations under a single brand.

He noted that the integration will enable closer coordination between Swire Projects and Swire's liner shipping and land-based logistics businesses, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region.

In addition, the fleet investment will strengthen Swire's participation in the transport of cargoes related to renewable energy, mining, construction, infrastructure, oil and gas, power generation, and offshore projects.
